Leaving The Wilderness Behind

leaving-the-wilderness-behind

Stuck. At a stand still. Not moving forward. Lacking direction. Can’t see the forest for the trees.

Have you ever been there? Or maybe you’re at a place in life where you are moving, but it’s in circles. You never seem to get ahead. Constantly battling the same issues, struggling to break the cycle. Wanting change to come, but not knowing how to obtain it. Wandering. You are not alone, my friend. We’ve all been there.

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the Israelites and the Promised Land. Such an incredible account of the goodness of God to a bunch of wandering people. Due to rebellion and complaining, these people were not allowed to enter this great land. But, instead, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. The Bible actually states that for a certain length of time, the Israelites were camped out at the border of the Promised Land. CAMPED OUT. AT THE BORDER. Directly across from their victory.

A trip that should’ve only taken 10-11 days, turned into 40 long years. Because they complained. They were so focused on their present circumstances that they forgot the promise God made them and how He provided. Even when their food fell from the sky, they were not content. So many times, we are the same way. We get caught up in family, kids, church, activities, bills, work, school, stress, sickness, more bills, ect…..We lose our focus. We begin walking in circles because we’ve taken our eyes off of the promise. Jesus.

I know so many times I wander. I go through seasons of moving forward, followed by seasons of complacency. And I hate that. My goal and my prayer is to break that hot/cold cycle and enter in to all that God has for me. Whatever that is. Whatever that looks like. I want it. I don’t want to be like the Israelites and spend years not walking in my destiny, because of my attitude and ungrateful heart. I want my victory today. How about you? Are you stuck and desperate for a change? Start praising Him in the desert. Choose to fix your eyes on Him, no matter what’s going on around you. He is the ultimate prize. And He wants you to succeed. He wants you to enter into all of what He has for you. Sometimes when we think we are waiting on God, He’s really waiting on us.

“….Get going. Cross this Jordan River, you and all the people. ….I’m giving you every square inch of the land you set your foot on—just as I promised Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon east to the Great River, the Euphrates River—all the Hittite country—and then west to the Great Sea. It’s all yours. All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors. Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:1-9 MSG)”

Be strong and courageous my friends! Your Promised Land is closer than you think. It’s your victory…..Fight for it!
