Through My Father’s Eyes

a

Yesterday was a long day. The kind where you’re not counting the hours….rather the minutes to bedtime. Not a day that I wanted to repeat, but one that I hoped would soon end. Rest seemed so distant and my weary mind and body knew it. It was just one of those days. We all have them. And none of us enjoy them.

My son has been very sick for the past 2 days. 3 year olds + the stomach bug = not good. Honestly, I don’t think either of my children have ever had the virus as bad as he has. After many trips to the bathroom, we made our way back to his bed, hoping he would get some rest. I hate it when my kids are sick. It’s such a helpless feeling. The only thing I enjoy about these times are the holding. My children, especially my son, rarely stop to let me hold them. And for the past couple of days, that is all we’ve done. There is something so special about those moments. They need me. They want me. Not toys or what I can buy them, but they want me.

Watching my son sleep, I caught a glimpse of what our Heavenly Father sees. We are His children. The apples of His eye. He knows. He sees. He cares. He wants. He longs. He waits. He loves. Just like a loving dad, he is waiting for the opportunity to scoop you up in His arms. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or what lead you to where you are today ….He’s sees beyond that. He sees your potential. He sees you well and restored, full of possibilities! Full of gifts and awesome things to offer. He’s looking at you through the eyes of a father.

So, whatever you’re dealing with today. It may be sickness, financial burden, problems in your marriage, stress, kids, depression, etc. Big or small, He cares. And He’s waiting for you to come running. Don’t come for the bells and whistles, just come for Him. He is so good and so worth it. Lay your burdens at the feet of the Father. He’s not waiting to scold or reject you, but He looks forward to your embrace. He longs to be with you. I encourage you to let go of what’s holding you back today, and just let your Father hold you.
