Love Letters

I love notes.  Hand written and from the heart, beautiful words etched on the paper and suddenly my thoughts have a voice.  Whether it be privately tucked away in my journal or one-liners placed in a lunch box, it’s all the same to me.  There’s something special about writing things down.  Telling someone how you feel.  And as much as I love to give away these treasures, I equally enjoy receiving them.

I dont know about you, but I keep most of the notes or cards I receive.  In my Bible, I have a select few that are inspiring and good reminders of what and more importantly, who is close to my heart.  Our hall closet has totes full of memories and letters from the past 12 years.  And I also have a box with almost every note my husband and I wrote while dating.  As you can see, these tokens hold high value in my heart.

Reading my Bible today, I was overwhelmed by the love and grace we’ve been given.  Page upon page, there are thousands of words that express our Heavenly Father’s devotion and adoration toward us.  Constantly pursuing, He leaves these reminders for all to see.  Words that cannot be denied.  Intimacy in action.  Acceptance in writing.  Love letters from God.  And as precious as my earthly notes are, they cannot bring the same joy as those from Him.  They are eternal and everlasting.  His words are full of hope and promise, because He is always good.  So, today, I am thankful for these reminders.  That He didn’t leave us empty handed, but gave us His word.  And that, my friends, is something to cherish.
