It’s Ok To Ask For Directions

its-ok-to-ask-for-directions

Recently, my family and I took a vacation over fall break. This was a big deal for us because we are not much on traveling and this was a long trip. During our 12 hour car ride, The Lord began to speak to my heart. The funny thing is, it wasn’t the first time I had heard these words. This same message was preached at a conference I attended and also at my church. (You think He’s trying to get my attention?).

The question was this: “Are you willing to do what it takes to get to your destination?”. Sure, the idea of taking a 3 year old and a 7 year old to Disney World sounded magical and full of fun, but was I prepared for the journey? You see, when you travel, things always alter your plans. Pit stops, detours, construction, traffic, weather, bad drivers…..all of these things will effect the drive. Spiritually speaking, the same things can happen. So often, we know where we want to go and we create our own plan of getting there. But what if they aren’t God’s plans. Sure, the destination may be the same, but His way of getting us there may vary from ours. In our excitement over our callings, we sometimes want to skip the details and directions. I don’t know about you, but on my own, I tend to lose my way. Without the guidance of my Heavenly Father and His wisdom, I would end up on the wrong side of the map. Even the smallest details of my everyday life need to be surrendered to Him. He knows best. And I can trust Him and all His ways.

So dear friends, where are you today and where are you headed? Are you trying to go your own way, but have found that you need direction? Maybe life has driven you somewhere that you didn’t expect. Or are you running low on gas and need to refuel? Maybe you started off excited, but have found yourself weary in the journey. With every question, I have a great answer. Our loving Father is the perfect navigator. He can carry you through every storm. He knows where you are coming from and He sees what’s ahead. Even when we don’t understand, God does. He is the ultimate GPS for your life. And if we ask, He is so faithful to answer. It’s ok to stop and ask for directions, especially from The One who created them in the first place.

So sit back and enjoy the journey….He’s got great things ahead for you.
